Whether you round up your co-workers for some team bonding or gather your family and friends to decode a mystery, there's nothing quite like the quality time and togetherness you can experience in a Houston escape room. Houston escape room prices vary by location, and some fluctuate in cost based on whether you're joining a public group or arriving with your own private party, so be sure to check online before you head out. Then, the next time you're seeking an adventurous indoor activity, look no further than these fun escape rooms in Houston.

Escape It Houston's west location located at the Marquee Center in Katy invites you to their Apollo 13 realistic experience to try your hand at stabilizing the lunar module.

Between seven rooms in two locations, there are plenty of scintillating options at Escape It Houston. At the east location's Titanic room, as soon as you hear the ominous announcement about an iceberg, you'll need to navigate your way through the escape room to land safely onto lifeboats within an hour.
In the west location, you'll find the Apollo 13 lunar module—an appropriate escape room theme for Space City—where you and your crew are aboard the spacecraft. However, after the oxygen tank explodes, you will need to scramble to stabilize the lunar module to reenter the Earth's atmosphere.
Need a break from all that thinking, or want to simply blow off some steam? Visitors age 18 and older can try their hand at axe throwing at the east location. Axe throwing is an additional fee that's separate from the escape room.

Step in to do the work of Alice by taking on the Queen of Hearts and saving the Mad Hatter in The Alice in Puzzleland escape room. The Mad Hatter has stolen the Queen's tarts, and if you don't return them to her within sixty minutes, it's off with his head.
This is one of the five exciting escape rooms at Escape Hunt. Blackbeard's Treasure, The Fourth Samurai, Houston, We've Had a Problem and Mystery in the Mansion round out the offerings.
Like all of the escape rooms, tickets are typically purchased online prior to your arrival. Also, check each escape room for the minimum number of participants required as well as the minimum age requirements. Expect to sign waivers before stepping foot into the themed adventures.

Escape Now
Wizards and superheroes and spies, oh my! Escape Now, located in northwest Houston, has five kid-friendly rooms where puzzle masters are ready and waiting to host.
For instance, in Classroom Capers, you'll feel like you're in a regular classroom, but you're really locked in the room in a race to save your failing grades. You and your gang can raise your grades, but only if you take a test. You have two options: study, or find the answers the teacher put somewhere in the room. By opting for the latter, you and your group must find the answer sheet before the teacher comes back.
Aside from the hour-long race against the clock that's standard for escape rooms in Houston, you can make your mark on the leaderboard. Escape Now's site features top teams and their remaining times for each room from the past month.
Find it: Escape Now, 13243 Jones Road, Houston, TX 77070; 832-220-5948
PanIQ Escape Room Houston
Picture it: Your car breaks down on a rural country road in Texas and no one is within sight. The sun has already set and you desperately need a roof over your head. You and your buddies find shelter in a nearby abandoned shed, but someone locked the door from the outside. This Chainsaw Massacre room is considered the scariest of the three rooms you'll discover at PanIQ Room. (Note: There are flashing lights with a stroboscope in the massacre room; consider health issues before entering).
The Wild West and Military Bunker escape rooms are considered family-friendly, so opt to solve those if you have kids ages 10 and up in your group.
After you claw your way out of the Houston location (each room's duration is 60 minutes), you can check out PanIQ's sister rooms in Austin, Dallas and 10 other locations around the country.
Find it: PanIQ Room, 1017 Eagle St., Houston, TX 77002; 281-974-5400

A reading at Strange Bird Immersive
Chris D. via YelpStrange Bird Immersive
Consider the Strange Bird Immersive next level—think of it as a hybrid between an escape room and immersive theater with its "The Man from Beyond" 90-minute experience. Upon entering, you're immediately invited to a private séance by Madame Daphne to connect with Harry Houdini. From superb acting to nonlinear puzzles to trap doors, this will feel like much more than a typical escape room. Prepare to be mesmerized.
You may have already checked out Strange Bird's virtual experience, which launched during the pandemic. In 2021, Haley Cooper, the co-owner, told Chron, "We need catharsis ... theater is a really great vehicle for that kind of catharsis."
Find it: Strange Bird Immersive, 7026 Old Katy Road, #310, Houston, TX 77024; 832-413-2853

One of Locktopia's escape rooms challenges you to find an antidote before time runs out.
Locktopia Escape Room via YelpLocktopia Escape Room
It's no wonder Locktopia Escape Room is often a favorite choice among escape room enthusiasts. Locktopia has four rooms: Spellcaster, Endurance, Gateway and Antidote. In the Spellcaster room you'll find medieval decor and a wizard's book of secrets (Harry Potter fans: this is right up your alley). It's up to you and your team of wizards to restore balance ... but if you don't, Dark Raven's spell will eliminate the sun and leave the world in darkness forever.
Escape rooms are all private and consist of two to 10 players of your own party. You can anticipate a 15 to 20-minute briefing by your game master before playing the hour-long escape room.
The location is convenient, too. Locktopia is within walking distance of West U and Bellaire, inside the Inner Loop and close to the Texas Medical Center, Museum District and the Galleria. Reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are allowed based on availability.
Find it: Locktopia Escape Room, 5326 Weslayan St., Houston, TX 77005; 713-588-1705
