Born Ruth Leik on December 12, 1930, in Dubuque, she was the daughter of Ollie and Helen (Nachtman) Leik. We are pretty positive she came into this world with a contagious smile that never left in her life. She also was not afraid to tell it how it is and her honesty was always greatly appreciated.
On November 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to Dale Dolash in Dubuque. They were blessed with a beautiful family of six children.
Faith was very important to Ruth and she was a dedicated member of the St. Francis Parish and Altar and Rosary Society, where she served several years as president, as well as a commissioned lay minister and spiritual care provider at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.
She was very involved in her community, including as a board member of Marshall County Izaak Walton League, Eagle's Lodge in Tama, Moose Lodge in Marshalltown, bowling league and the Ferguson Area Coffee Club. Ruth also volunteered for Iowa River Hospice, as a first responder and at the House of Compassion.
When she wasn't busy volunteering, she enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, birdwatching, dancing, playing poker with her grandchildren, camping, fishing and crocheting. More than anything else, she adored her family and loved spending time with them.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Pat (Joe) Fuchs, of Eldora, Annie (Steve) Mosinski, of Packwood, Dale (Suzanne) Dolash, of Holden, MO, Sherry Dolash (Garry Hauser), of Iowa City, Mark (Shelby) Dolash, of Ferguson, and Rick Dolash, of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Angie (Rick) Ramer, Bret Woodman, Melanie (Steve) McAnulty, Eric (Karry) Dolash, Zak (Renee) Dolash, Jake Dolash, Briley (Dan) DeLeeuw, Tegan Hauser, Sage Dolash-Hauser, Bridget (Robbie) Bishoff, Rachel (Chad) Burgess, Courtney (Justin) Harre, Teresa (Cory) Schmitt and Kelsey (Casey) Christian; eight step-grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
In death, Ruth rejoined her beloved Dale; her parents, Ollie and Helen; brothers: Billy and Ronnie; sisters: Virginia and Elayne; father and mother-in-law, George and Anna Dolash; several nieces and nephews and one great-great grandchild.
