Davenport Companies sells Red Jacket Resorts properties - Cape Cod Times

SOUTH YARMOUTH — The Davenport Companies of South Yarmouth announced the sale of its Red Jacket Resorts, with five properties on Cape Cod and one in New Hampshire, to affiliates of EOS Investors LLC.

The sale price was not disclosed in a release from Davenport on Tuesday.

Sold on the Cape were the 44-room Blue Rock Golf Resort, 160-room Red Jacket Beach Resort, 112-room Blue Water Resort and 125-room Riviera Beach Resort, all in South Yarmouth, and 50-room Green Harbor Resort in West Yarmouth, according to the release.

The Davenport family acquired the former Birchmont Inn in North Conway, New Hampshire, and began construction of the Red Jacket Mountain View Motor Inn in October 1970, the release said. The 40,000-square-foot Kahuna Laguna Waterpark was added in 2008 to what is now known as the 161-room Red Jacket Mountain View Resort.

"Our team members who make up our family at Red Jacket Resorts have always been the key to our success, and we thank them wholeheartedly for the decades of service that made us who we are," said DeWitt Davenport, CEO of The Davenport Companies, which has owned Red Jacket Resorts since its creation.

The decision to sell its Red Jacket Resorts portfolio "was made after a carefully thought-out process that ensures the continued success of the popular Red Jacket brand," Davenport said in the statement. "EOS Hospitality has shown a commitment to providing the same high-quality resort experience Red Jacket Resort guests have come to expect for decades."

On its website, EOS Investors, founded in 2017 by Jonathan Wang and based in New York City, describes itself as "a fully integrated investment firm dedicated to identifying and creating value within the hospitality sector." The company looks "for investment opportunities across the United States, primarily targeting urban markets and select resort destinations."

The first property built by the Davenport family was the Blue Rock Motor Inn in 1963, now known as Blue Rock Golf Resort, next to Blue Rock Golf Course, the release said. The par-3 golf course is not part of the sale.

Development of Red Jacket Beach Resort on South Shore Drive began in 1968, followed by Davenport acquisitions of Blue Water Resort, Riviera Beach Resort and Green Harbor Resort, the release said.

The sale does not include any other companies owned and operated by The Davenport Companies, the release said. The company owns Thirwood Place senior living in South Yarmouth, Cape Cod Fence Co. on Cape Cod and in Connecticut, All-Cape Self-Storage, Davenport Realty, Davenport Building Company, Davenport Commercial Realty, Davenport Yearly Rentals, Kingsbury Aviation and Jupiter Apartment Finders, among others, the release said.
